KIP series is produced by KURAKI's numerous machine tool development technologies, such as high-accuracy positioning, high-accuracy boring spindle technology, etc. Epoch-making technology of one pass honing is capable of small diameter (φ1-50 mm) precision grinding. One tool action greatly contributes to the shortening of the machining processes and allows for the expansion to machining a variety of workpieces.

One pass machining ― dramatically effective precision grinding

One pass honing is an epoch-making engineering method capable of high-accuracy grinding only by passing a tool into a workpiece I.D. Only one stroke in the vertical travel while in a rotary cutting motion with a fine vibration utilizing an electrodeposition grinding wheel together can perform rough grinding, finishing honing, and mirror-face machining with only one machine. As the machining time is predominantly short compared with conventional honing and the tact time is fixed, the production line efficiency and stabilization are ensured.

Fine vibrations can effectively discharge swarf and prevent clogging and workpiece damage. Moreover, supply of grinding abrasive is smooth to suppress the workpiece grinding wheel from increasing in temperature.

The diamond/CBN tools developed only for KIP series are designed and controlled by our experienced engineers to meet customers' machining requirements. The abrasive grains can be reproduced many times by electrodeposition in good cost performance. An approximately 0.1mm diameter depth of cut into highly hardened steel with high-abrasive grain strength is possible by one pass of a tool depending on the machining conditions. Troublesome tool diameter adjustments are easily facilitated.

Employment of a high-accuracy collet chuck on the end of the main spindle unit enhances tool change repeatability. Optional automatic tool expansion device and toolchanger can have more productive automation.

One pass honing can perform heavy grinding of workpieces having a lot of grinding allowances, depending on the settings of vibration width and vibration frequency. In addition, this corresponds to soft materials or hard-to-machine materials like aluminum or stainless steel whose swarf is tiny and can cause clogging. Rotation and vibration can be separately driven, so machining only in vertical vibration is available (excluding KIP-50 and KIP-200).
